What is Pancreatic Cancer?
Pancreas is an organ in your abdomen that lies horizontally behind the lower part of your stomach. Cancer will occur when the tissues of the pancreas grow abnormally.
Pancreatic cancer has lead to major causes of cancer death. This occurs because the pancreas cancer spreads rapidly and seldom be detected at an early stage. Symptoms and signs of pancreatic cancer usually can only be seen when the cancer has reach the advance stage.
Symptoms of Pancreatic Cancer :
- Skin and the whites of the eyes become yellow (jaundice).
- Pain at upper abdomen that radiates to the back.
- Loss of weight.
- Blood clots.
- Depression .
- Loss of appetite.

My grandma died of pancreas cancer 22 years ago and till today it was still so fresh in my mind. My bond with my grandma was so tight as she was the one that had raised me. Still in my teens, I did not know much of pancreas cancer then. All I can remember is that she was always in pain and was reduced to bare bones when she passed. Nevertheless, she fought with the cancer for almost 2 years undergoing all kinds of treatment such as chemotherapy. As I grew older, I came to know more about cancer and I know that the next of kin stand a higher chance of contracting the cancer hence I have decided to know more about pancreas cancer. While I was googling for pancreas cancer, I came across this article “How Doctors Die” by Dr Ken Murray, MD at http://thehealthcareblog.com/blog/2012/08/06/how-doctors-die/. This article really opened my eyes to the various kinds of treatment available for cancer treatment. The opening paragraph sounds like this. “ Years ago, Charlie, a highly respected orthopedist and a mentor of mine, found a lump in his stomach. He had a surgeon explore the area, and the diagnosis was pancreatic cancer. He went home the next day, closed his practice, and never set foot in a hospital again. He focused on spending time with family and feeling as good as possible. Several months later, he died at home. He got no chemotherapy, radiation, or surgical treatment. Medicare didn't spend much on him.” Now, the above paragraph really struck me. A doctor himself that was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer ceases to go for treatment. And why do the doctors in the hospital made my grandma suffer so much if they know that it isn’t going to help at all. Is it because of the $$$???? In the 4th paragraph, “ Almost all medical professionals have seen what we call “futile care” being performed on people. That’s when doctors bring the cutting edge of technology to bear on a grievously ill person near the end of life. The patient will get cut open, perforated with tubes, hooked up to machines, and assaulted with drugs. All of this occurs in the Intensive Care Unit at a cost of tens of thousands of dollars a day. What it buys is misery we would not inflict on a terrorist. ” The above paragraph really made my blood boil and that is when I have decided to champion the cause of “NO” western medication if any of my family members are diagnosed with cancer. Hence I did some research over the internet on alternative treatment for cancer. A website of a world famous Chinese master claims that “The TOLE’s” way of medication for cancer treatment is a better and happier choice as the patient will not undergo chemotherapy that brings sufferings. The cost of alternative cancer treatment also cost far less than western medication.
